Australia's "winningest" trainers last week - SPOTLIGHT on William Kropp
Here is the list of trainers who trained at least a double at any of the Tab meetings last week, along with the jockeys for who rode the winners. This table is colour coded to highlight the outperformers and it is worth noting these stables and the combinations.

Here is the SNAPHOT PROFILE on William Kropp (via ChatGPT and other sources), which makes for some interesting reading.
William Kropp is a young Toowoomba-based trainer building a solid provincial record within the broader Kropp family racing operation in Queensland. racingqueensland+2
Background and family connections
William is the son of prominent Darling Downs trainer Matt Kropp, a long-established Clifford Park horseman with several decades of experience and more than 700 winners to his name. William grew up around his father's stable. As an adult he has followed Matt into the training ranks, setting up his own license and business while still operating closely alongside the family team. This background has given him a grounding in traditional horsemanship mixed with modern provincial campaigning across Queensland. callaghanpark+2
Stable base and setup
William trains a growing team from Toowoomba, working out of a barn at Clifford Park Racecourse with additional home stables just off the track. The Kropp operation as a whole is firmly based in Toowoomba, with regular campaigning across the Downs, southeast Queensland provincial circuit and country venues such as Dalby and Rockhampton.
Jockeys associated with the stable
William uses a range of riders typical of a provincial operation, using experienced provincial jockeys and claiming riders depending on the race setup. racingqueensland+2
The stable currently has a particularly good record with Les Tilley. Unfortunately, Les has been sidelined since a March race fall, suffering a fractured collarbone and wrist.

Results and notable wins
So far in this current 2025-2026 season William has trained 24 winners from 132 starters, a very solid 18.2% win rate. Six of those winners started favourite (strike rate 31.6%), with 11 being 4th favourite or longer. This suggests he often scores with horses not sent out as shorterpriced favourites. His record also shows his careful placement of progressive types such as Bilpa Morea who put together a sequence at Ipswich and Dalby over 1700 and 2000 metres.
Training and placement approach
Comments from Racing Queensland suggest that William's approach is methodical, sticking to a "winning formula" once he identifies the right trip and pattern for a horse. Bilpa Morea's preparation is a good example: kept to middledistance and staying races, stepped up in distance when appropriate, and retaining the same jockey to maintain continuity and confidence. His small team size allows handson work, with reports noting that he rides some of his own trackwork, giving him a direct feel for how each horse is coping with their preparation. Campaigns typically involve targeting suitable provincial races where his horses can race onpace or in their preferred pattern, often at tracks where his family stable has a long history and detailed knowledge of conditions. racingqueensland+3
Impact Value
In the current 2025-2026 season his starters have delivered an Impact Value of 1.59 when compared to trainers overall, which puts him in the upper echelon of IV performers.

Wizard Freebie - Wizard Watch report
The aim of the Wizard Watch report is to highlight on race-morning which horses have been the most significant firmers overnight and earlier on race-morning. This Wizard freebie is an extract of this report featuring some of the venues being covered today. The full report is available with the other Wizard "market sensitive" reports at 10:30am each day.
Wizard monitors race morning market trends over the first 3 hours of race day betting to determine which horses are anticipated to run above earlier pre-post expectations and which horses have had their higher probabilities confirmed.
Given the significance of this early/informed market action, the odds about the Wizard Watch Morning Movers naturally skew towards the shorter odds, but this is compensated by the strike rate. Double figure odds about successful Market Movers are rare, but each-way odds winners are backable.
